The study led by Prof. Hyunjoo Jenny Lee, KAIST South Korea, presents a new method to achieve a precise 3D stimulation focus by intersecting the acoustic waves of two focused ultrasound transducers. The Korean group introduced and extensively evaluated the approach in rodents. Senior Researcher Axel Thielscher and Postdoc Cristina Pasquinelli from DRCMR contributed simulation results to demonstrate that it can be readily extended to humans.
