The Data Governance Group at DRCMR supports researchers in responsibly handling and collecting data across all activities - from simulations to large cohort studies. Our mission is to promote a culture of responsible data governance, ensuring that research at DRCMR is conducted ethically, efficiently, and in alignment with best practices.
Our Focus Areas:
- Data Organization: We promote awareness of good data practices, such as the FAIR principles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAIR_data), and provide practical recommendations for their implementation. This includes adopting standards like the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS, https://bids-specification.readthedocs.io/en/stable/) and offering tools and guidance for data conversion and organization.
- Open and Reproducible Science: We advocate for open and reproducible science, assisting researchers with pre-registrations, pre-prints, and embracing a "data sharing by default" philosophy.
- Resource Sharing: We encourage the sharing of computational resources and code within the institute and beyond. Our goal is to streamline analysis pipelines and foster collaboration across projects.
Outreach and Education:
One of our key initiatives is the DRCMR Methods Course, where we teach sessions on version control and data governance principles, equipping researchers with essential skills for modern, responsible research.
