Title:
Navigating the murky waters of neurodegeneration: insights from multimodal brain imaging

Abstract:
Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease develop silently for years before symptoms appear. This lecture shows how modern brain imaging (PET, MRI) lets us understand how neurodegeneration unfolds: tracking the spread of toxic proteins along brain networks, spotting disease years before diagnosis, and explaining why some people resist symptoms far longer than their brain scans predict. Let's talk about how brain imaging reshaped our understanding of these diseases — and how it may soon guide earlier diagnosis and better-targeted treatment.
