The first Danish MR scanner was installed at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance in 1984 after a generous donation from Simon Spies, a popular travel tycoon. MRI scanning is now available all over the country.
There are strong MRI research traditions in Denmark. The Danish Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine maintains an open list of MRI sites as do the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (both self-reported).
