Culture night 2016: The Electrified Brain at the Medical Museion

A melancholic autumn night” was the topic of this year’s culture night arrangement at Medical Museion as researchers, novelists and Museion staff invited visitors on a nocturnal journey to discover the brain, melancholia and sleep.

Scientists from DRCMR talked about how electric and electromagnetic brain stimulation is used to treat depression and to boost normal cognitive abilities. The talk was supplemented by interactive show-and tell displays of scientific and clinical brain stimulation equipment, accessible throughout the night. These hands-on demonstrations provided an ideal setting for informal dialogue between citizens and scientists about emerging neuro-technology in therapy and recreational use. Participating researchers were Morten Gørtz Jønsson, Peter Jagst Sørensen, Byurakn Ishkhanyan and Mads Safeldt. The event was organized by Senior Researcher Anke Karabanov.
