Research areas
A central focus in my work is to understand and elucidate the complex relationship between brain structure and function, physiological variables, normal and pathological behavior and cognitive function, and genetic makeup using multimodal MR imaging methods, behavioral assessments, and biological (genes, cortisol) measures. Study populations include healthy children, adolescents and adult subjects, as well as schizophrenia, affective disorders, and schizophrenia and healthy twin populations. The last few years, I especially focused on elucidating the structural and functional dynamic changes in the brain and brain/behavior relationships in children and adolescents.

Supervision
Through the years I supervised or took part in the supervision of numerous master students and around 13 Ph.D. students. Presently, I (co-) supervise 4 PhD students.

Educational
Co-organizer on PhD course: “Advances in magnetic resonance imaging of human brain structure and function" October 2009. Organizer and lecturer of the course "Neuroimaging techniques" 2011, for trained (Neuro)psychologists. Lectures at PhD level courses, on Brain Maturation, Schizophrenia, Morphometry, or MR methodology, one per year.
