Global Excellence Lecture with Professor Søren Kyllingsbæk and Associate Professor Thor Grünbaum

On Friday 10 May 2019, Professor Søren Kyllingsbæk and Associate Professor Thor Grünbaum are giving a lecture entitled: "A computational Model of Intention Selection".

Professor Søren Kyllingsbæk is Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen and Professor in Cognitive Psychology.

Associate Professor Thor Grünbaum is an Associate Professor at the Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, also at the University of Copenhagen.

Abstract:

At any one time, many intentions are represented in long-term memory and many of these may be relevant in the current context. Therefore, successful control of action by decision-making requires a solution to the computational problem of how the right intention is selected, out of a multitude of intentions, for execution at the right time. We propose a Computational Theory of Intention Selection (CTIS) of how standing distal intentions are selected from long-term memory, transformed into occurrent distal intentions in working memory, and then to proximal occurrent intentions leading to actions.

The talk will be held on Friday 10 May at 9:00 o'clock in the MR Conference Room.
