Tools and methods for teaching magnetic resonance concepts and techniques
Hanson L2012
ccccTeaching of MRI methodology can be challengingfor teachers as well as students. Tosupport student learning, two graphical simulatorsfor exploration of basic magnetic resonanceprinciples are here introduced. The first implementsa simple compass needle analogy implementedfor day one of NMR and MRI education. After a few minutes of use, any user with minimalexperience of magnetism will be able to explainthe basic magnetic resonance principle. A secondpiece of software, the Bloch Simulator, aimsmuch further, as it can be used to demonstrateand explore a wide range of phenomena includingRF interactions, relaxation, weighting, echoes, imaging principles and more. Bothsimulators run in almost any browser withoutinstallation of software, but are also freely availablefor download. Example uses are documentedin a series of short videos available on YouTube.
